The Art of Meditation

“Mind does its fine tuning hair splitting, but no craft or art begins or can continue without a master giving wisdom into it” —- Rumi

All art is spiritual. Art connects us back to the roots of our emotions, to our hearts, and the pathway to the soul is through the heart.

Spiritual Path of Self-Realization

“Like all other forms of art, meditation serves to put us back

in contact with our feelings and emotions, and to their source,

the ground of our being, our true nature and higher self.”

The first step on the spiritual path is becoming aware of our own feelings, which can be done through the process of art. Following our feelings will always take us to their source, which we can achieve through meditation. This human journey will always lead us to the ground of our being, your soul.

Any artistic endeavour is a calling from the higher self. This calling is what motivates one to create art. Art is the application of specific principles that transform the mundane world into the ecstatic realm of beauty.

Meditation, which is also an artistic endeavour, is the application of basic principles to the realization of heightened awareness of something ecstatic and beautiful – your divine essence or spirit. Like all other forms of art, meditation serves to put us back in contact with our feelings and emotions, and to their source, the ground of our being, our true nature and higher self.

The modern world is a world of distractions. When we seek to define ourselves externally, we become alienated from our true nature. Repressing our emotions represses our creative spirit. If we are not intimate with our emotions, we cannot understand the dynamics that give impetus to them or the way these dynamics work. The realization of the physics of the soul is achieved through meditation.

To engage in the process of self-realization is to realize the underpinnings of our feelings and emotional life. This takes reflection. As we reflect in meditation, we become more sensitive to both our outer and inner experiences. The pathway to the soul is through the heart. Awareness of our feelings opens up the door to our hearts.

Art of Meditation is Personal

“One of the beautiful things achieved through the regular practice

of the art of meditation is the recognition of intuition.”

Art, and specifically the art of meditation, is the practice of engaging in this process of self-realization. By disciplining the mind to step back and observe thoughts and emotions, we can realize the underpinnings of our feelings. One of the beautiful things achieved through the regular practice of the art of meditation is the recognition of intuition.

Intuition is defined as a truth, direction or knowledge perceived beyond the five-sense awareness experience. Through regular meditation practice one becomes more aware of the intuition and fully comprehends its true nature.

The art of meditation is learning the practical application of meditation practice and using that practice creatively to achieve something beautiful. That something beautiful is you!

Transformation is the creative spirit at work. As mindfulness transforms, meditators become artists of the highest caliber. Meditation becomes the art of being awake.

I encourage you to create your own practice, your own rituals. Make a practical application of meditative techniques toward the creation of something beautiful. Do things that are meaningful to you. Write your own mantra. Have the courage to follow your intuition and your own creative process.
