Prayer for Equanimity

Sitting quietly

in the stillness of this moment,

the world unfolds,

seasons come and go,

all life transforms

on intricately woven currents of energy.

All beings, including oneself,

are responsible for their own actions.

Suffering or happiness is created,

through one’s relationship to experience,

not by the experience itself,

but by how we choose to respond to it.

Although I wish only the best for myself,

I know that my happiness or unhappiness,

depends on my actions,

more than my wishes for myself.

May I not be caught,

in the tangled web of reactivity,

May I always find peace,

in the practice of equanimity.

Everyone, like yourself,

is responsible for their own actions.

Suffering or happiness is created,

through ones relationship to experience.

Not by the experience itself,

but how we choose to react to it.

We make the effort,

without being attached to the result,

all transformation,

begins at home.

Although I wish only the best for you,

I know that your happiness or unhappiness,

depends on your own actions,

not on my wishes for you.

May you not be caught,

in the tangled web of reactivity,

May we always together,

find peace,

in the practice of equanimity.
