Morning Meditation

Today I am fortunate to have woken up.

I am alive,

I have a precious human life,

and I am not going to waste it.

This day,

I am going to use all my energy to develop myself.

This day,

I am going to make every effort to expand my heart out to others.

This day,

I will make every effort to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings.

This day,

I will make every effort to have kind thoughts of others.

This day,

I will make every effort not to get angry or think badly of others.

This day,

I will make every effort to be of benefit to others as much as I can.

I know that my ageing,

Physical diminishment and death are inevitable.

I know that everything in this life is impermanent,

ever changing and we must part from loved ones.

My actions and my Karma are my true belongings,

the ground upon which I stand.

Since death is certain and the time of death uncertain,

What is the most important thing?

Suffering, none - self, and impermanence

are all beating the drum of my diminishing years.
